How To Project:
This was one of my favorite projects we have done so far. I make these "jellyfish" as part of my own small business, and they do very well. I sell them at a few local places, and online. My biggest account is Fern's Garden in Long Beach California. This week they were actually featured for the second time in Fern's Garden's add in the local newspaper Grunion Gazette. The video was easy to create, because I have had a lot of practice with these handmade little guys. People seem to love them, and they make great holiday presents!

This was a fun project, and I did mine on an artist I find really interesting. Tim Hawkinson is an artist that students can really be inspired by. His breath of work is huge, and very engaging. Many of his installations are kinetic and interactive. Hawkinson has a reputation for being a "mad scientist" of the art world, and much of his sculpture work is created around scientific philosophies. As an educator you could use examples of his work to implement different lessons, outside of the art world, because of his connection to science.

Animation Project:
This project was a killer. I decided to go with rotoscoping because it was fun, and I enjoyed adding in the silly images over the video I created. Key word= enjoyED= past tense. I choose such simple drawings for each frame the task became tidous, after multiple hours of drawing my dogs tongue 200 times. I also had a lot of trouble editing my hands out of the frames. Everything I tried either looked obvious or didn't seem as fluid as I wanted it too. All in all, my dog is extremely good looking and was an easy subject to be forced to stare at for my entire Thanksgiving break from school. My cat was getting very upset about all the attention and demanded to be apart of the process, so I through Lulu a bone and gave him some screen time as well. They were both good sports, and indeed did get some treats at the end of the day. |
